Academic Formation: Forming the Student

We serve students from Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade in religion, reading, math, science, social studies, and writing.  Enrichment classes may include art, music, physical education, library, and S.T.E.M. each one day per week.

We believe it is important for the students to use a variety of tools and media to enable academic growth:  paper and pencil, tablets, computers, and manipulatives are utilized by students on a daily basis to build solid experience upon which to build their learning.  Each grade level is equipped with computers at a 1:1 ratio.  The classroom has a short-throw projector and Smart Board which the teacher uses during instruction.  There is a library of various topics of books in each classroom at multiple Lexile/reading levels to meet the needs of the students.

We utilize many sources of online practice, assessment, and data collection in reading, math, and other subjects:  NWEA Benchmark Assessments in Reading, Language Use, and Math; Spelling City; Xtra Math; Superkids.  These programs and applications are "leveled", meaning they match the student's ability, wherever they are, and build skills from that point.  While technology is a very timely, helpful tool, we believe that handwriting and reading paper books are important basic skills for everyone.  All technology is used at school - nothing is sent home for use by students.

We partner with Fort Wayne Community Schools to serve our students with special needs in various academic and production areas. Additionally, as we partner with Catholic Charities in Fort Wayne, Indiana, we also recognize that helping our young people grow socially and emotionally is important to their development toward the person God calls them to be. "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.'" As a school our prayer is that our students grow unimpeded, in every way, every day.

Our Faculty is highly experienced and dedicated to the formation of your child both academically and spiritually.  We offer over 80 years of combined teaching experience among our faculty.  We have some who are 4th generation in this school.

We are celebrating over 140 years of unbroken, Catholic education to families in this area.  We are one of the oldest, continuously running Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Wayne / South Bend.  We are accredited by the State of Indiana and are proud of our students who graduate well prepared and confident to enter the high school level.

We are thankful to our community and we take our vocation of Catholic education very seriously.

Our vision for the students of St. Aloysius: Through the integral academic and spiritual formation of each child, Saint Aloysius Catholic School enables all children to realize their God-given potential to be successful now and in the future.

We really enjoy helping our young people develop their social skills and personal management through student organizations like The Gator Girls, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts and sports. We serve the community through various events and projects that teach the children the importance of their calling to be part of the Body of Christ.
